I've been with Wesbanco for about a year now (not by choice, they bought out the company I was with) and I can't help to sit back and laugh at this operation they have going. It's been a continuous cycle of unorganized chaos with them!

The day the change from Your Community Bank to Wesbanco was to take effect, Wesbanco lost my account during the transfer. I happened to be traveling at the time this happened and couldn't do anything about it until I was back in town. Talk about starting off on the wrong foot! I've also started to worry about my security with them a lot recently!

Just a couple weeks ago I went on vacation to the Dominican Republic and used my debit card twice at the Punta Cana airport before getting on our flight to head home. I never alerted them about our trip before we left and assumed they would either decline the transaction or cut the card off shortly after. I didn't plan on using it while we were away but it was more convenient than pulling out cash at the time and I was quite shocked that back to back transactions in another country were approved. I was curious to see if they would pick up on the unusual activity at all so I used it 3.5 hours later at our layover in Atlanta, and again a couple hours later when we landed in Lexington, and again in Louisville and Etown while driving home.

Within 11 hours I used my card in 6 different locations in and out of the country and my card was not once flagged. That's scary. The company before would flag my card and alert me if I forgot to tell them that I was going on a weekend trip just a couple hours away and I like that security! Wesbanco doesn't give a care if someone travels the globe in a day racking up charges.

Another thing that really urks me is the amount of time transactions take. I'm pretty sure banks in the 70's had a faster turn around time. And on top of that the text alerts are super delayed. I set it up to where I'm supposed to get a text alert if a transaction greater than $250 takes place.

That's unnormal for me to spend that amount in one setting so I did this for my security.

But the few times I have made a large purchase I did not get a text alert on it until at least 2-3 days after the fact. Makes the whole thing pointless....

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

i would completely agree. for all wesbanco's claims of protecting customers, my wife was charged recently for items she did not authorize for purchase, and wesbanco provided no help. as soon as the weather breaks, we will be switching banks
