Thy bought up a local bank chain.

No issues. Same great staff & service. Just the name & sign change. They have the overdraft protection, and automatic bill pay same as before. Better than PNC bank which changed its money transfer rules (I had to add a savings account). Better than Bank of America which shares your purchase info with the FBI.

I would like to ask whether the recipient of a cross-border payment made through your company must pay a handling fee before the money can arrive my account? Your company sent me an email instructing me to transfer the handling fee to another account to activate the account. Really?

Resolved: 9 day hold

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Nov 22, 2023

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. In service agreement it said it was up to the tellers discretion even though the private banker told me they would be able to call the bank that had issued the check and speed along the process.

Instead I had to wait 9 business days 4 weekend days a holiday and to top it all off I had to wait til midnight on the 9th day for my money to be cleared. They wouldnโ€™t even release the 225 they are supposed to release so you arenโ€™t completely broke

Original review Nov 14, 2023
I literally opened a new account with a check under 5 grand. The woman that set me up the account told me 1 to 2 business days hold. Knowing this was all of my money I went ahead because I needed an account. When j get to the local office to make the deposit they slam me with a 9 day hold not knowing weekends dont count throw in a holidayhere I am hungry with a kid depending on that cash. Releasing 225!?? Says who I havent seen a dime

Terrible security process

So a couple things the Personal center that I go to in my hometown I love however, I got my stipend check from my college and I used the mobile banking app to deposit the check. I waited two days and the amount was made accessible.

I started using the money and then that evening, my account was locked and they told me when I called after hours line That someone was trying to log into my account Thats why it was locked well the next day I called and they said that it was locked because they thought the school check was fraudulent well they allowed me to access the money and I was using the money and then after I had been using the money throughout the day they put a hold on the check and then took money from my paycheck to hold the full $800 stipend check that they had already made accessible to me and now theyre telling me that I have to wait five days for the check to clear it makes absolutely no sense and no one can give me any answers so at this point in time because they tapped into my paycheck, I now have to choose between paying rent or groceries and gas money I forgot to mention that when I called the banking center I usually go to she said the email that the security department sent said they just needed confirmation questions answered which were where did the check come from? What is it for and was I expecting it?

I answered every question as yes and they still are holding my money from me! I am very irritated

Creating online account

This Bank must be the only one on the planet that makes you come into the actual physical Bank to do this. Employee in the Bank does it, even determining what your user name and password are. I've done it for myself via my personal computer several times when with other Banks. Very inconvenient, and plain unheard of.

Took money out of my account to pay another

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My husband is currently laid off and I admit, one of my accounts had been overdrawn. But instead of asking for my consent, Wesbanco took the money from my checking to replenish that account. That money was earmarked for my mortgage payment for the month! Times are tough, and every penny counts. Thanks a lot Wesbanco.

Poor Communication with Mortgage Loan

If I could give Wesbanco less than 1 star, I would. My husband and I are having a new house built in York, PA and Wesbanco was one of two mortgage lenders our builders recommended as preferred lenders.

My husband and I DO NOT recommend Wesbanco! After discussing the mortgage options with a few lenders, we decided to go with Wesbanco because of the lower loan rate and the friendliness of Daniel Murtaugh, the current Vice President. Once committing to them for our construction to perm 10/1 ARM loan though, Wesbanco fell through with all communication. We were subsequently contacted by various people from the bank, asking for a wide variety of information and documents from us leading up to settlement, but when we responded with questions, we usually received no response.

They wanted a lot of information that we as the buyers, not builders of the house, had no idea of the answers. We would email and call the bank, with little to no response. As first time buyers with this type of loan, we had little to no support or help from this bank in the process. And when we met for settlement, we were all waiting on them to finish their paperwork before we could settle, and there was no one from WesBanco present to represent/help!

We couldn't even get ahold of anyone when we reached out to them during settlement! How embarrassing! We also were required to open a bank account with them in order to get 0.25% of a lower loan rate, but opening that account was an absolute nightmare. We informed our realtor and construction company that we highly do not recommend Wesbanco for any of their customers.

Hopefully our mortgage loan gets bought out by a bigger company. We are done working with Wesbanco!

Money was taken from my savings account without my consent

WesBanco - Money was taken from my savings account without my consent
I have a savings and a checking account with wesbanco. I have been having an issue with them charging overdraft charges that I should not be getting charged for. I have had an account since before they became WesBanco. My account was a no Overdraft fee up to 500 but for some reason now they are not honoring it. I was told that it would be corrected but instead they took money from my other account and paid themselves without my consent or even contacting me.

Con: No Deposits at ATM - which means evenings and from Saturday at noon until 9am Monday no check liquidation not to mention it already takes moons for deposits to post so if you get a check Saturday afternoon you cannot access the funds until Tuesday or Wednesday depending on where the check is backed. Cash deposits take a couple days to post which I don't understand why. Pro: the staff is old fashion friendly which is a nice marriage to an old fashioned finicial institution

They are thieves

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Steal money in fees. Cause credit rating to go down. By returning payments already promised. Won't allow you to take out own money! Allow overdraft then cut you off when needed. Or during holidays. Respond to criticism with telling the world you business. Instead of excepting they are wrong. Steal so much from consumers who are completely clueless. And get richer everyday ripping of own customers.

To many problems

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I first had My Community Bank, before Wesbanco bought them out, and I loved My Community Bank. From day 1 of the switch I have had nothing but problems and 9 out of 10 times get in contact with rude employees who never have the answers.

I'm just going to post about the problem I have this week with Wesbanco. Last Friday I received a $500 bonus from work, and beings that I was at work and it was a paper check, I wasn't going to be around a physical site, so I decided to use mobile deposit. Come Monday my check still hadn't cleared my account so I called. I was told that IT was having problems and it should be cleared by tues at noon.

Its Tues and still no $$!! I call back and Anne tells me that they don't know when it will be back up. She then started to argue with me about being told it would be fixed by 12 tues!Tues!! So I said I'll just bring my check to a facility and cash it.

I was told no, I cannot do that!!

So I'm not able to cash a check that is rightfully mine, the check is good, just because they have a mess up, and they have no idea when it will be fixed and no plan to help me with my check!!! This isn't the first time I've had problems with mobile deposits either..its the second time I've had problems and I've only used it twice!!!!

Change my address on my account

The address on my account had been changed. I was unaware. The checks I ordered were sent to my husband's former address. I am very upset about the Clarksville branch closing. It's rediculous that Jeffersonville and New Albany can have 6 locations and nothing for Clarksville residents. My dad changed banks because of this. The Court Ave drive through is trashed and has been for years.

Their internet banking program is poorly designed They had an older rickety system it wasnt great but it almost worked. In august they replaced it with a new system. Its horrible. For example in the old system you could download all you banking transactions for the last year in one fell swoop now you have to do it in 45 day increments. You can do the whole last year but it has to be in 45 day chunks. Why was this feature changed? Seems like a step back. But its wesbanco
